My monitor went to heck on my 1760 12row. Need to find replacement and don’t know what to get? What’s everyone replacing it with?
Thanks.

I would consider getting a Gen 2 or Gen 3 Precsion Planting Monitor as they pretty much are plug and play. They show so much information that you will tell yourself why didn’t I do this sooner. It’s very easy to see when a piece of corn gets lodged in a cell of the plate and the knockout wheel can’t push it out as you will see that the row has a skip. Now I don’t stop every time I see a skip but if it is still showing something after a pass then I will check to see and it’s always been a piece of kernel stuck. Good seed sensors like wave-vision will be your next purchase after the monitor.

I do have a 250 monitor that I would sell but for the $800 that everyone wants for them I would spend the money on a better display and let my 250 sit on the shelf.

Do you have any auto steer on your tractor? Could potentially use the auto steer monitor as a planter monitor and save yourself from a second monitor in the tractor? My Trimble display runs the tractor as well as being a planter monitor showing skips and doubles and such. It just plugged right in to my existing harness.

If you don’t already have an auto steer display, it would be a pricy planter monitor.

I replaced a 250 with a VM 5500 from Shoup
For what it costs, very happy with it
I like that is shows every row all the time. With the 250 if you hit the half width it would just show you the rows that are off, not the ones that are still planting. Also by showing population by row all the time it is easier to catch things. Compared to the 250 when it was on scan was hard to see variability.
Show’s population by row, speed and acres covered. Definitely not as fancy as some of them but for about $1500 it plugged right in and works. Covering about 400 acres a year with this planter it’s hard for me to justify spending thousands on things.
It’s actually kind of enjoyable after running a 16 row with individual row shut off, variable rate seed and fertilizer on a 2630 screen at work. To just come home and run this and stare down the mark

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.

Do you happen to have an Ag Leader display? Many of them can use Ag Leader's Seed Tube Monitoring Module to replace a 250 or 350 planter monitor. It would involve the STTM module and a wiring adapter. When we went from a 1760 to used 1770NT, the 1770NT came with a 350 monitor. We use the STTM for population. I was able to sell the working 750 to help offset the cost.

With many of the Ag Leader displays, you would get what they refer to as Advanced Seed Tube Monitoring for corn. This gives a vast variety of information such as maps, singulation, population, doubles, skips etc. For soybeans, you would get population, maps etc. This could work out nicely if you already have an Ag Leader display and are using it for other purposes.

When I bought my 1760 the guy who owned it before me had a 250 and then bought a 350, which he was using when he sold me the planter. I have both monitors but have never used the 250, from my understanding they are basically the same, only the 350 is newer.

If you are happy with the 250, I would just look for another. We have a replant planter that I use a250. Put a wanted on classified and had all kinds offered to me at 400$. Found one about 40 miles from home.

Both 250 and 350 are getting hard to get parts for. Went Sensor One and was direct plug and play. Was 1 hour drive for me and 15 min to install and go.
